Mediation is an informal process in which a neutral person (the Mediator) assists parties in resolving issues in their case. However, the parties are not required to reach an Agreement. Rather, Mediation provides an alternate forum (other than a courtroom) for the parties to meet and discuss the case. Mediation is required in almost all contested Family Law cases in South Carolina before a Final Hearing can be scheduled.
During Mediation, I strive to make everyone comfortable. My process is to allow the parties to voice their concerns and positions in a case; to discuss the likely outcomes based on the law; and to elicit and propose family-specific resolutions to issues.
I conduct Mediation at my office on Tuesdays. You can book a Mediation appointment online if you have a gmail account: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/selfsched?sstoken=UUNpU2tCTlN0ZWNFfGRlZmF1bHR8OTk0YjViMzM2YjMwMDNkZGY2MDZiZTE4YTRiMDIzOTA
Otherwise, please email me at Brett@BrettStevensLaw.com to schedule Mediation. I look forward to meeting you and working with you to resolve your case.
